Abstract – This project describes the design of hydraulic scissor lift. It resolves the problem of material handling for the industry named M/s AbhijatEquipments Private Limited, Satara who are manufaturer's and exporter's of CNC machine tools. The company has to do the loading-unloading operation of the jobs (ranging from 40-500 kg) on VMC machine. For this purpose we have designed the scissor lift. The aim of the project is to design, analyze and manufacture a hydraulic scissor lift which lifts maximum 500kg load the job to a height of 1.2 metre from ground level with minimum time. Lifting height achieved by scissor mechanism which operates efficiently and consistently satisfying need to be compact and cost effective. The main objective of this project is to develop and implement scissor lift for material handling purpose in order to minimise cost of material handling, reduce man hours and fatigue, hence reducing total production time and improvement in productivity. The use of this equipment also helps in prevention of accidents from worker's point of view which may arise in case of manual material handling. Generally, the scissor is used for lifting and holding the heavy job(workpiece), but in our model additional sliding arrangement is provided to help in loading-unloading the job on machine in industries. This scissor lift uses hydraulic cylinder for operation. The design modeling and drawing of scissor lift is done using SolidWorks software. While analysis is done in Ansys which includes total deformation load and equivalent stress analysis part.
