Abstract – COVID 19 pandemic has had a humongous impact on the waste management sector with rise in medical and plastic waste , complete lockdown and social distancing had banned waste pickers and we saw an increase in the household waste , industrial waste saw a decline , but the plastic waste escalated with plastic driven mask and kits , which has increment the generation of waste by 5 times in every country . There was a decline in many kinds of organic waste generation , however the medical , plastic and e waste made it equal . Looking at the current scenario the world is adopting a zero waste policy to tackle waste management , in India there has been humongous amount of medical and plastic waste produced followed by e waste , with inly 1/ 4 capability to recycle it .Plastic mask disposal has been a serious concern for all the countries where the production rate has been in dollars , the mask have been found piled up near the oceans , seas and water bodies thus effecting the aquaculture , one side the pandemic provided better condition and improved air pollution and biodiversity on the other hand it amplified the problem of waste management . The need of the hour is bring in new policies and scheme to tackle waste management and create better infrastructure for the whole process .
