Abstract – In a Spiral yarn, effect is usually produced by a thinner yarn wrapped round a thicker core; on the other hand, a Corkscrew yarn has a softer bulkier yarn wrapped round a thin, firm yarn. Over here cotton yarns are used as a thicker component whereas polyester yarns are used as a thinner component to produce the spiral and corkscrew effects of the fancy yarns. Thereafter, properties of the yarns are studied for their appropriate utilization in different applications. A spiral or corkscrew yarn is a ply yarn that displays a characteristic smooth spiraling of one component around the other. The basic structure, which is straight forward, and except in the differing lengths of the two yarns involved, very similar to the structure of a marl yarn.
